Summer School on Operator Algebras, Spectral Theory
and Applications to Topological Insulators


Tbilisi, September 17-21, 2018

This summer school is the first in a series of summer schools within the framework of a newly established international doctoral program in mathematics at Tbilisi State University. It is devoted to the currently very active and fast developing field of topological insulators. The summer school will introduce the participants to the topological and analytical tools necessary to understand the mathematics behind topological insulators, and it will also provide some insights and physical background to the mathematical modeling. The summer school mainly addresses graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.

Ralf Meyer (Göttingen): From materials to K-theory and operator algebras.

Hermann Schulz-Baldes (Erlangen): K-theory and topological insulators.

Gian Michele Graf (ETH Zurich): Anderson localization and topological phases.


Introductory courses:

Malkhaz Bakuradze (Tbilisi): Chern characters and K-theory.

Ingo Witt (Göttingen): Spectral theory.
